Louis van der Vyver left the Merchant Bank in the middle of 1990. The activities in the first 10 years were the following:

Establish a project finance and consultancy company which consulted to a number of developer and institutions. A number of financial transactions were concluded.

A further two licenses for hospitals were acquired and deals flowed from these licenses.

Ultimately the Akasia Hospital was listed as part of Excel Medial Holdings Ltd. Louis sat on the Board of the Listed entity till a Scheme of Arrangement was concluded with Netcare Medical Holdings.

In 1994 Louis acquired land in a Joint Venture in Midrand for the development of Furniture Gallery, a commercial development which is still held in the portfolio.

In the late 90’s Louis had involvement with Step Down Facilities in Johannesburg in the acquisition and restructure of these facilities.

Also in the late 90’s Louis became involved in the country club business and advised Peter Matkovich on his involvement in the country clubs. This have led to the acquisition of Woodhill Country Club and later Zwartkop Country Club.

Woodhill as a business was a joint venture between Louis, Dale Hayes, Peter Matckovich and The PGA of SA. The business was highly successful and sold off to the residents of the Estate.

In the case of Zwartkop Country Club, Louis arrange the transactions and the funding of these acquisitions. Once acquired these businesses had to be managed.

Also in the late 90’s and beginning of the 2000 Louis consulted for FNB on their national property strategy and footprint. In order to have a better understanding, it meant that there was direct involvement in the business model by sitting of the relevant Exco for a period of time till the beginning of 2002.

In 2002 after aquisition of Zwartkop Country Club Louis and Dale Hayes agreed to focus on their respective areas of interest, Dale namely golf and Louis in property. Louis acquired all the surplus land which led to the creation of Zwartkop Golf Estate.
Effectively from 2002 the following development and project management activities were successfully completed.
